Hey there,

seems like i am finally getting an IT slot to have the Boxes distributed over all the farm.
We do have the TSquid Box#1 (which is installshield and can hence be automated using an answer file).
For Box#3 it seems you're using InstallAware and according to their forums options need to be specified on the command line and that
the variable names are only available from the vendors. As we're using central software management to push
installs that would be a great help for the IT dept. Could you provide these variable names ?

Thanks a lot in advance,
Thorsten

Yes, the installer for Box#3 can be run from a command line. In such case you need to provide the input to define the installation folders and the list of the components to install.

The command like would look like this:

PFToolsBox3ProMax9x32Setup.exe /s VARIABLE1=VALUE1 VARIABLE2=VALUE2

/s switch defines that the installation will execute silently, without a user interface, or any user intervention. When input is required on dialog boxes, the default values of dialog controls will be used. To override the default values, use the variable names below.

Optional logging during installation can be defined by /l option - the installation will keep a verbose log of all the internal installation variables, as well as Windows Installer's own installation log. Be aware that logging significantly decreases the runtime speeds of an installation. The command line would look like this

PFToolsBox3ProMax9x32Setup.exe /l=<logfile.ext>

where logfile.ext is the full path to the desired log file.

The variable names follow:
TARGETDIR - full path to the 3ds Max root folder
SELECTED - defines whether to install the plug-in itself; TRUE or FALSE
SELECTEDPRESETS - defines whether to install the Data presets; TRUE or FALSE
SELECTEDHELP - defines whether to install help files; TRUE or FALSE
SELECTEDEXAMPLES - defines whether to install sample and example files; TRUE or FALSE

Thanks,
Oleg B.
